The history of  ACIF starts when it was originally launched at the Hotel Royal on 25 March 1995 and in November 1997 it was constituted and officially recognised by the Govern of the Balearic Islands in February 1998.

Prior to this it was part of the Elderly Peoples Welfare Committee, which was part of the English Speaking Church on Ibiza at that time.

In 1994 a Balearic Association known as O.A.S.I.S. with the agreement of Age Concern England changed its name to Age Concern Spain, closer ties with like organisations throughout Spain  led to the creation of Age Concern groups in Palma & Menorca. In 1998 this then became The Federacion de Age Concern Espana, of which ACIF was a member.

In 2018 we decided to leave the Federacion as a Charity on a small island our remit is different to those on the larger islands.

We still maintain a close working relationship with the English Speaking Church.
